My Hong Kong School Trip Experience

Okay, so I went to Hong Kong for my school Co-Curricular Activities (CCA) trip, Modern Dance. Departure was on December 4th 8am and we stayed till Dec 8th 4pm. And overall, the trip was awesome. I've never enjoyed a school trip so much before!

Day 1:
We had to reach Changi International Airport at 6AM WTF because the flight was at 8am+. My flight was great mainly because my airplane partners were so cool, a popular girl & my last year Physical Education (PE) teacher. They served some omelette and it was surprisingly one of the best plane food I've had. Oh and I've watched this CHINESE movie (ROFL) called "Finding Mr Right 2" because of Tang Wei HAHA

Upon arrival, we had some lunch and went up to Victoria Peak for sight-seeing & photos. Even though the weather was horrible with grey skies, it was still a great experience walking around the mountain with friends & taking lots of step pictures!

After that, we had some dinner and visited Ladies Market for some budget shopping. Okay to be honest, there were really nothing much to buy from there. I just bought some "I ♡ HK" shirt, HK magnets, bottle opener, and a beanie.
Then finally, we checked into our 4-star hotel called "Regal Riverside Hotel". And the hotel was extremely satisfying! But the food quality was like some 2-star hotel.

Day 2:
We had a normal breakfast served in the hotel and headed off to "Infinity Dance Studio" for 3 dance workshops.
Firstly, we had the Locks and Basic workshop with Mr Doug Lee. It was great learning the details of small body movements.
Secondly, we had Hip Hop workshop with Ms WingU. She was damn hyper and great, but her warm-up exercise was crazy man LOL DAMN tiring.
Thirdly, we had Basic Contemporary Dance workshop with Mr Benny Fung. He was extremely buff but extremely good in his dance. He was also very nice and patient as well. Also, he made us pair up for some couple dance step and that's when I got my first opportunity to carry up a girl using my hips LOL.

After the 3 tiring workshops (had run out of energy by then), we had dinner at a local restaurant and headed back to hotel for sleep and all the guys gathered in a room and played & talked till like 2am+

Day 3:

As usual, hotel breakfast (almost same breakfast as the previous day legit), and we went to Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts (HKAPA) to observe different kinds of dance classes such as the ballet, Chinese dance and contemporary. After that, we had a 'packet food'(taken away lunch) at some park near a river before attending another Contemporary workshop at HKAPA with Ms Cho Yi. It was a way different kind of contemporary as compared to the previous day's contemporary workshop. She basically asked us to run around, turn, fall down our entire bodies onto the floor (gently of course), follow another person's actions and so on. In my opinion, that was the most unique dance workshop experience of my life. I think I will remember this workshop for many years! Ms Cho Yi was really enthusiastic and nice as well.

After that, we headed off to Helen Liang Memorial Secondary School for Dance Exchange Program. Firstly we saw a solo performance of a young girl. It was brave of her to perform alone, respect for that! And then we performed our own dance piece in front of them, following their another group dance performance (Chinese dance). After that, we had bonding session with the students there and that's when the disaster happened. My CCA mates were sabotaging me to dance on stage because I'm a Korean. And one of my friend was saying something like "He's just like EXO Kai right?" and I was just so ashamed I couldn't say anything. I'm sorry to all the EXO fans out there.

And.. yeah I literally embarrassed myself in front of everyone doing some retarded free-style dance. It is still so embarrassing that I will never forget the SCREWED UP feeling that I had. ARGHH I should have learned some dance at home so that I wouldn't have screwed up so badly. Lesson learnt; be prepared so that I will be ready for that kind of shit next time.
But luckily, those secondary school girls were nice enough to just accept my shit dance and still cheer for me. How extremely nice they were!! Some of them even took photos with me and exchanged each others' instagram. I felt very blessed to have met those kind girls and basically I appreciate everything, even that embarrassing moment. I will treasure it even though it is still a OMG FML KILL ME PLS feeling that's going to follow up with me in my life.
After that, we learned simple Chinese dance steps and it's theme was water. The dance looked elegant, and it was trying to express how important water is to them. Once again, a new experience.

nice girls willing to take picture with me LOL

Following the standard routine after that: Dinner at a local restaurant → Hotel → Meet up with friends AFTER the light out → Sleep at 2am+ LOL actually I'm really surprised at how I managed to wake up at like 6.30am when I slept so late

Day 4:
Oh this day was the highlight of the trip. FULL DAY DISNEYLAND!! After the standard hotel breakfast, we went to Hong Kong Disneyland at about 9am and played until 1pm. And we performed there (Parade Showcase) with a simple "Under the Sea" dance in front of all the visitors!! It is extremely scary, to think about it even now. But with 28 dance members all dancing together, it was quite fun actually. It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience and I enjoyed it very much.
After that, we continued playing there and took lots and lots of lovely pictures till like 9pm?

Oh and there were fireworks at about 8pm and I swear it was the best fireworks I've seen in my life OMG it was so beautiful.

Then the standard routine again: Dinner at a local restaurant → Hotel → Meet up with friends AFTER the light out → Sleep at 3am+ because it was the last night. I visited my closest friends' room and talked till 3am+.

Day 5:
Standard breakfast at hotel again and we checked out. We went to a FARM and experienced various farming experience(?) such as cutting trees, seeds, making dumplings and so on. Yes this is a Dance trip, just saying. We ate our own hand-made dumplings and they gave us this beautifully red-colored Roselle tea (Hibiscus tea) that tasted sour but is good for health (high blood pressure). The entire experience was great although I touched some old sickle handle and like 20 RED ANTS crawled on my right hand and bit me like crazy. It was legit pain fml and there were some "mosquito bumps" on my wrist for like an hour.

At about 1pm+, we headed to the Hong Kong International Airport to return to Singapore.
My flight experience was great again, same partner; the popular girl & my last year PE teacher. This time they served some chicken and it was not bad! We arrived at like 7pm+ and I quickly returned home to sleep. Maybe I should have joined some of the members to have dinner together but my closer friends all went back as well so I had no incentive to stay back actually LOL also my bags were very heavy.

Some takeaways: Great bonding with some of my CCA members (we were not bonded before the trip), made a few more great friends, and had great gold experiences that I seldom get in my daily life!!

Bad things: Couldn't drink alcohol as it was a school trip. You know the FEELS of wanting to drink alcohol with friends in a hotel?!? And I couldn't when they were so much cheaper in Hong Kong ARGHH
Nothing else was really that bad for me to write down here.
So overall, 10/10 would definitely go again if I were to go back time!
Me signing up to go to the trip? No. Me trying damn hard to join Modern Dance at the beginning of this year was the divine move. I appreciate all the things that I got from this trip.

PS. 2 members couldn't join us and I really wish they could have!

Cheers,
SeungJun Kim

My Lonely Trip to "the" Itaewon 이태원; How Does This Place Look Like?

L et me get straight to the point. I came across 10 Transgender Bars. This blog post will be super useful for you if you are planning to visit Itaewon 이태원 of Korea, or simply interested in how does this "infamous" place looks like. I'm not sure how non-Koreans heard of Itaewon; but in Korea, it is commonly thought of as a non-conservative, rowdy, dirty and an "adult" place . It is even referred to as a Red Light District from time to time. So,,, how does this place really look like?? Let's just go and see it for myself. Let's take a moment to look at this Transgender Bar. Can't believe this is Korea wtf      And that's how I ended up going to Itaewon, alone . To make the story short, it was a night on June 27th 2018, the FIFA World Cup day where Korea had an epic match with Germany. I had a Spicy Cold Noodle, called Bibimmyeon, with my grandma. And at about 9 pm, I told her that I will go out and just walk around. Being my kind ...

Cursed Shampoo

It is the day my girlfriend died, or I should say, the day she killed herself. What an awful and a horrible day today is. Probably the worst day of my life, seriously. I still feel like vomiting, as if my stomach is going to be exploded. My entire body feels like it wants to crush into pieces, with all the despairing guilt. All the shocks that I received today is too much for me to believe, and I still cannot believe that whatever happened is true. My girlfriend committed suicide today, because of me. When I heard the news that she killed herself, I could not even cry because it was too scary and unbelievable. Someone killed herself because of me. Never in my life did I imagine such thing would happen. I feel hopeless, and want to seek for help. Find someone to talk to, cry in front of them, and confess all the regretful things that I have done to my girlfriend. First, my parents do not even know that I even have or had a girlfriend. And...

My Appendicitis Operation Experience (yes, 3 cuts on my body)

OH MY GOSH I was supposed to post this a year and a half ago in 2016 June and here it comes NOW, so a shoutout to my Godlike procrastination level which caused me to have a painful A Level experience . (This paragraph updated in 2017 Dec)      Let's get to the point now. So, I did appendicitis/appendix operation on June 9th 2016, in South Korea. ( And I am back in Korea again now!! TIME FLIES ) Before I start, let me give you guys a rough idea on what appendicitis operation exactly is, because to be honest I myself did not knew about it as well. But if you guys already know what that is, just skip all these information in between the stars.                                           ★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★ Appendicitis  is an inflammation of the appendix , a 3 1/2-inch-long tube of tissue that extends from the large intestine.
